Thanks for dropping by my little piece of wjzd.com!  Drop me a line with any good ideas or opinions you may have at rowe@wjzd.com.

When I'm not researching news, critiquing the latest movies or music, or doing production on It's A New Day I like to relax with other forms of media, some of my interests/influences are...
Music and Film (especially Jazz [Norman Brown, THE DUKE, Billy Holiday, Miles Davis, Charlie Parker, Satchmo, Bob James, Chick Corea, Eddie Palmieri, T. Monk, Cab Calloway], Real Hip Hop [OutKast, Bizzy Bone, T.I., Cee-Lo Green, UGK, Poor Righteous Teachers, Public Enemy, Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Mystikal, Devin the Dude], Prince, The Police, Ziggy Stardust, Alexander Nevermind, The Thin White Duke, Sting, Alladin Sane, Jaime Starr, Queen, James Brown, Jimi Hendrix, Al Green, Hall and Oates, Michael McDonald, Johnny Cash, A Tribe Called Quest, Trance [B.T., DJ Trashy], 70s Rock [get some Steely Dan in your life!], anime [Ranma 1/2, Macross Plus, Sanctuary, Cowboy Bebop, Golgo 13, Mach Go! or Speed Racer, Fatal Fury, The Art of Fighting, Please Save My Earth], Hong Kong cinema [anything by Yuen Woo Ping, John Woo, Stephen Chow, Jackie Chan, Bruce Lee, Golden Harvest, Sho Kosugi, Cynthia Rothrock, Sammo Hung, Chow Yun Fat, Jet Li, oh, and Tony Jaa!], and spaghetti westerns [SERGIO LEONE, LOOK INTO HIM])...just to name a few

Come back soon for full album and movie reviews!

A few upcoming flicks I'm looking forward to reviewing...

"Ninja Assassin" Nov. 25, 2009

"The Taking of Pelham 123"

Good performances by both Washington and Travolta.  Tony Scott's direction is on par with anything he's done previously, though not stellar.  Man on Fire and Spy Game are superior films in just about every way.  Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed Pelham 123, it was good to see Travolta again, especially in a bad guy role.

"Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen"

I was looking forward to this and on the action adventure side, I wasn't disappointed.  The characters and plot developement could have used a bit of work.  The twins SHOULD have been left out entirely.  You'll understand when and if you see the movie.  Most of the interesting new transformers were wholly underused.  I wanted to see a lot more Sideswipe, Devestator, and Arcee (who was three seperate bikes for some reason).  At any rate, good popcorn summer flick.
